A stock-keeping unit (SKU) or variant code allows you to track product inventory. It consists of alphanumeric unique digits and a scannable bar code printed on a product label. The characters define a code that tracks the price, product details, etc.
You might want to input the product and/or variant code when you create or add new products. But it will take a long time when you have a large amount of products data. You can follow the steps below to see how to generate Product and Variant Code/SKU/Stock Keeping Unit automatically
Step 1. Go to Setup, Click More Menu, then Choose Module
Step 2. Go to Product Tab, then Set Product Code Generator
Table Index for Product Code Generator
Config | Description |

I. Disabled
Disable: The product and variant code will not automatically be generated when adding a new product.
If you choose Disabled, the product and variant code will be not created automatically if you're not inputting the product or variant code when adding new product data.
Step 1. Create New Product
Step 2. Save Product without Code
Step 3. Search the New Product to Check Product and Variant Code
The product will not have a product and variant code.
II. Global
Global: The product will automatically generate code globally in the product.
If you choose Global, the product and variant code will automatically generate the following pre-existing code in sequence number incrementally
Step 1. Create New Product
Step 2. Save Product without Code
Step 3. Search New Product to Check Product and Variant Code
The product will have the auto-generated product and variant code.
III. Category
Category: The product will automatically generate code by It category (Bottom, Top, Accessories, etc)
If you choose Category, The product code will automatically generate the following code by category prefix
Step 1. Go to Product and Select Category
Right click on any category, add SKU Prefix and click save.
We create an SKU prefix for the Product Test categories, so when a product is created with that category, the SKU from that product will be generated with the prefix and started from the SKU seed from that category.
Step 2. Create New Product
Step 3. Set Product Category and save the product without code
Step 4. Search new product to check product and variant code
The product will have an auto-generated code based on the SKU prefix from the categories.
Notes:
There is a scenario we have not yet been able to handle when importing new products (Code required: Yes, Code generator: Category). In this scenario, when the category that we want to assign to the product requires an SKU Prefix in the category, if it is not filled in, an error will occur during the product import.
When importing new product data, it is mandatory to enter an existing Category that already has an SKU Prefix previously entered, as we currently have not handled the New Category scenario (an error will occur during import).
