Create New Category for Chart of Account in Books App

Learn how to create a new category for COA in the DealPOS Books App.

COA Category is the grouping or classification of financial accounts (Chart of Accounts) based on their type and function in financial reports.

In the Books App, there are five main categories:

  1. Assets
    Represent the resources or wealth owned by the company that have economic value and can be used to generate future profits.

  2. Liabilities
    Represent the company’s debts or obligations to other parties that must be paid in the future.

  3. Equity
    Represents the ownership interest or capital of the company’s owner after deducting all liabilities.
    Simple formula:

  4. Revenue
    Represents the income earned by the company from its main operational activities, such as sales of goods or services.

  5. Expense
    Represents the expenditures or costs incurred to operate the business, which reduce profit.

To create a category in the Books App, follow these steps:

Step 1. Click COA, select Category, then click Add

Step 2. Fill in the Category Form

Next, you can fill out the category form with details such as Name, Code, Note, and specify the Parent Category where the new category will be placed.
Once all fields are filled, click Submit.

If you want the new category to be a parent category, you can leave the Category field blank.
