Setup Chainway R1 RFID Reader for USB HID Keyboard Mode

Configure the Chainway R1 RFID Reader to scan RFID tags when creating sales transactions in the Sell menu.

The Chainway R1 RFID Reader can be used to scan RFID tags and input product data directly into the DealPOS Sell menu.

Before using the device, you need to configure the Chainway R1 Reader through UHFAPP. The operating mode, filter, and timeout settings must be configured so the RFID reader can work properly when scanning products in DealPOS.

Follow the steps below to configure and use the Chainway R1 RFID Reader.


I. Configure the Chainway R1 RFID Reader

Before using the Chainway R1 Reader in DealPOS, download and open the UHFAPP application, then connect the device to your computer.

Step 1. Download and Open UHFAPP

Download the Chainway R1 driver from this URL: HERE. After downloading, extract the ZIP file and open the UHFAPP.

Step 2. Connect the Device to UHFAPP

Open USB
  1. Connect the Chainway R1 reader to your computer.

  2. In UHFAPP, change the connection mode to USB.

  3. Click Open to connect with the device.

Step 3. Check the UHF Version

To check the UHF version, go to the UHF Info menu. Then, verify that the UHF version matches the version shown in the screenshot below.

Step 4. Configure the Operating Mode

To use the R1 reader in the Sell menu, You must first change the operating mode. To change the operating mode, You can follow the substeps below:

  1. Go to the User settings menu.

  2. Set the operating mode to 1 - USB HID Keyboard.

  3. Save the Settings.

Step 5. Configure the Filter Setting

If you want the device to be able to scan the same EPC multiple times, you need to adjust the filter setting. You can follow the substeps below:

  1. Go to Filter Settings section.

  2. Set the value to 1 to enable the filter.

Step 6. Configure the Timeout Setting

If you have enabled repeated scanning for the same EPC, you should configure the timeout setting to control how frequently the same tag is counted.

Because RFID tags can be read very quickly, setting an appropriate delay helps prevent the quantity from increasing too rapidly. To configure the timeout setting, you can follow the substeps below:

  1. Go to the Timeout Settings section.

  2. Set the delay according to your requirements.

  3. The recommended timeout value is 500 ms.


II. How To Upgrade The UHFAPP Firmware

If the user settings menu is blank or does not display any options, You need to upgrade the UHFAPP firmaware.You can download the latest firmware here: Download Firmware. After you've downloaded the firmware, follow the steps below to update the UHFAPP Firmware:

Step 1. Connect the Device to UHFAPP

Open USB
  1. Connect the Chainway R1 reader to your computer.

  2. In UHFAPP, change the connection mode to USB.

  3. Click Open to connect the device.

Step 2. Upload the Firmware File

  1. Go to UHF Upgrade menu.

  2. Select downloaded .BIN firmware file.

  3. Choose Reader Application as the upgrade target

  4. Click Upgrade button.

  5. Wait until the firmware upgrade process is completed.

Step 3. Restart the Device

  1. Disconnect the R1 reader from the computer.

  2. Reconnect the device.

  3. Open the user settings menu again to verify that ii is now displayed correctly.

Note: Do not disconnect the device or close UHFAPP during the firmware upgrade process, as this may cause the upgrade to fail.


III. How To scan RFID Tags In Sell Menu

Once all settings have been configured, restart the device to apply the changes. Follow the steps below to restart the device.

Step 1. Disconnect the R1 Reader from the Computer

Notes: After restarting the device, you do not need to open UHFAPP again. You can directly start scanning RFID tags from the Sell menu in the POS.
