In a retail business, you may have multiple storage areas to hold inventory before the goods are distributed to stores or sold directly to customers through online orders.
In a warehouse storage system, there are four common terms for the warehouse structure: Aisle, Shelf (Level), Rack (Bay), and Bin. This system works similarly to a home address, helping warehouse operators and managers locate, pick, and put away items quickly and accurately.
Aisle:
Parallel rows or corridors in a warehouse zone, spaced based on product size and equipment needs.
Rack (Bay):
Individual shelving or pallet-racking structures located along an aisle.
Shelf (Level):
Horizontal tiers or levels within a specific rack, typically numbered from bottom to top (e.g., Level 1 to Level 5).
Bin (Position):
The smallest and most specific addressable storage position on a shelf such as an open-front container, tote, or slot-numbered sequentially from left to
As an inventory management application designed for retail businesses, DealPOS provides a Warehouse menu that allows you to create a storage system based on the same principles as these four common warehouse storage terms.
To get started and learn more about the Warehouse menu, follow the guide below:
I. Warehouse - Layout Plan List
The Plan section allows you to create and manage warehouse storage layouts for your outlets. Each Plan defines a storage structure consisting of Zones and Bins, helping you organize warehouse locations systematically.
Note: If you have multiple warehouses with the same Zone and Bin structure, you only need to create one Plan and assign it to the relevant outlets.
II.Warehouse - Zone
The Zone section allows you to divide a warehouse layout into specific storage areas. Each Zone is part of a Plan and helps warehouse operators locate, pick, and store items more efficiently. By organizing your warehouse into multiple Zones, you can improve inventory organization and simplify daily warehouse operations.
III. Warehouse - Bin
The Bin section allows you to define the specific storage locations within a warehouse Zone.
The Bin section usually used to define the smallest storage location within a warehouse, typically one level above the product itself. For example, a bin can represent a basket, container, or small compartment where products are stored.
