Buffer Inventory, also known as Safety Stocks, is a backup in case of an emergency from out of stock or an unexpected surge in demand.
Threshold Inventory is the minimum count of an item you keep on hand. When inventory falls down below the threshold quantity, you must Re-Order stock.
You could manage the Minimum and Maximum Inventories of every product with Buffer and Threshold features. You also can use these features to avoid running out of stock by reminding you to Re-Stock when inventories are below the minimum.
The following are the advantages of using buffer and Threshold inventory:
Helps protect against excessive supply and demand fluctuations
Reduces the possibility of lost revenue because the company has stock to accept new orders
Reduce the risk of losing customers
I. Setting up Buffer and Threshold Inventory Via User Interface
Step 1. Go to Products Menu - Select a Variant
Step 2. Select Edit in Variant Detail
Step 3. On Variant Editor - Inventory - Change the Buffer & Threshold Stock for each Outlet
Input Buffer Stocks, and Threshold Stocks.
II. Bulk Operation Via Import Csv Function
If the product you want to set the Buffer and Threshold is in large quantities, we recommend you to use the Export and Import CSV file format in the following way:
Step 1. Export the Product Data
Step 2. Open the Exported File - Change the Buffer and Threshold Outlets in the CSV files. Save after Finished
Step 3. Import back the file to the Products Menu. Activate the Inventory Update to update Buffer & Threshold Inventories
(Note: To show the Inventory Update function you need to click on More Option)
III. How To See Report Buffer and Threshold Inventory
Go to Inventory Menu - Select Tab "Low"
In this report you will see which products are already below the limit of the buffer, so you can quickly order from suppliers
IV. How To See Report Buffer and Threshold Inventory on Dashboard Menu
On Dashboard menu, Show More Retail Metrics > Active "Inventory Pane Visible" > Update Dashboard
It shows Inventory "Products to Re-Order"
