When creating a product, you need to enter the parent and variant codes. However, if your product has many variants, manually entering the codes for each one can be tedious and inefficient.

To simplify this process, DealPOS offers configurations that allow you to automatically generate variant codes based on the parent product code. This eliminates the need to input each variant code manually. Additionally, you can customize the code format to suit your needs. To automatically generate variant codes based on parent product code, you can follow the steps below.

I. Enable the Variant Code Configuration

Step I. Open the Setup menu, select and click more menu.

Step 2. Select and click Module.

Step 3. In the Product tab, navigate (scroll down) to the Variant Code generator section.

Step 4. Turn on the configuration by clicking 'Yes', then input "/" as the Separator and set the Substring Digit to 3, and click Save.

Note:

You can configure the Separator and Substring Digit according to your preference.

Substring Digit	Number of letters/characters taken from the variant name to be used as variant code.

II. Add Products with Automatic Variant Code

Step I. Click the Product Menu, and Input the Product Data.

If you don't know how to add a new products, please refer to the following article: Add New Products Data. Input the product data starting from the name, parent code, category, and variant name. Then click 'Save'.

Note:

Variant codes can only be generated automatically if you input the parent product code.

If you notice, there is a forward slash as a separator between the parent code and the variant code, you can set the separator according to your preferences. Then you can also set the number of characters or substring digits that you want to use as the variant code. In the example above, the number of characters taken from the variant name is 3 characters. For example, for the black color variant, 3 letters are taken, namely 'bla', as the variant code.

If a product is added without inputting the parent code, the variant code will not be automatically generated, regardless of whether the configuration has been enabled.
