Sometimes you might want to add shipping fees to the sales transactions. But the shipping fees often have different prices based on how far the destination is and you might don't want to give access to the cashier to edit the price in the Sell menu.

This article will explain how to create non-inventory products for delivery services and how to use them.

I. Add Shipping Costs as a Product

Step 1. Go to Product, then Click Add

Add Product

Step 2. Input Product Detail & Type, then Click Submit

Fill out the new product form and set the type as Non-Inventory, then click the submit button.

Input Product Detail & Type

Notes :

A non-inventory is a product type that doesn't have quantities on it.

Step 3. Open Product Detail

Search the product on the products menu, then open the product detail by clicking on the variant name.

Open Product Detail

Step 4. Click Edit

Edit Product

Step 5. Setting Sell Price Type

Go to the advance tab, set the selling price type to "Do Not Require Authorization and Sync Cost", then click the submit button.

Setting Sell Price Type

Notes :

  • This function will sync your shipping price with the cost. So whenever you set your shipping price in the sell menu, the cost will automatically same as the price and it will not affect the reports.

  • This function will allow cashiers to edit product prices (if this feature is activated) without being granted access rights to edit product prices.

II. Use Shipping Products When Selling

Step 1. Make Sales Transaction with Shipping Products

Insert the shipping product into your selling cart.

Step 2. Click Product to Change Product Price

Change the product price to submit the shipping fee.

Step 3. Click Pay to Complete Transaction

Complete Transaction

Step 4. Check Shipping Product on Invoice Detail

Check the order detail or reports detail for the result 'Sync Cost = Price' feature.

Notes :

If you just want to record the delivery service without needing to input the nominal value/shipping cost, then you can use the feature Logistics Services.
